Still cant fix........
Can somebody please give me some pointers on where to start with this problem?... My daughters 02 has a weird problem. When the heater selector switch is on(not the blower switch) and in any position (a/c hasn't worked since we bought car)it stalls when you come to an abrupt stop. This car runs great otherwise. Ive had the dash apart looking for vacuum leaks. Ive tried driving it myself and it definately is consistant with the heater selector switch being on because it drops the idle way down when stopping quick. And with the switch off i cant get it to stall, it comes to a nice smooth idle and a clean stop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
its a long shot... but is the idle air control functioning properly? it is suppose to keep idle steady when loads are applied to the engine. does it do it on any setting? or just certain ones? that is definetly weird.
just closely re read that. hmm in any position. maybe check your alternator voltage. it could be getting weak and maybe that on is sucking to much power for it to handle. i had a friends taurus that did just about the same scenario and it was a failing alternator but took 5 months to competely crap out.
