Default Swap a 1997 2.4L for a 2000 2.4?

Ok heres the deal, i have a 1997 cavalier z24 with a 5 speed manual, the motor in the car is shot, however i did purchase a 2000 2.4L. I was wondering what problems i may encounter if any, when putting this engine in?

Also when the car is in reverse and the clutch is let all the way out the transmission makes a ticking noise like its not fully engaged in reverse, It does reverse but sometimes will jump out if you dont keep your hand on the shift ****. im thinking the syncronizer but i would like someone elses opinion? Thanks!
