Taking apart rocker arms and upper exhaust manifold resulted in some bad sounds
I'm fairly new to auto mechanics and have been ripping open a somewhat working but in need of repair 94 Chevy Cavalier to learn from and hopefully repair.
My goal was the head gasket but I needed some more parts to do the job, so put everything back - The two big items being the rocker arms and upper intake manifold assembly. At first when I put everything back in and turned on the car in park it sounded okay for a moment before chugging a little and then sounding like the accelerator was pressed. I turned it off, thinking I had tightened the rocker arms too much - opened everything and loosened them. Then when I got everything back together again the engine made a chugging sound when I turned it on, in park again.
The intake manifold assembly's gasket definitely needs to be replaced, being fairly destroyed in its removal. Could it be that or the rocker arms? Really all I want to do is safely get it out of the garage and park it on the street.
If it's not safe to drive, can I turn the car off while in neutral so we can push it out?
Thanks!
