Valve cover: To buy or not to buy?

Valve cover: To buy or not to buy?
An autozone service rep told me that removing the plastic nut was his best guess for me getting to my PCV valve for my 4-cylinder 88 Cavalier RS 2.0L.
Well, that doesn't seem to be the case. When I tried to wrench the "nut" off, it was "rotten," i.e., the years of heat had taken its toll and it just crumbled.
So I lifted the valve cover (still thinking I would find my PCV valve). I include these 4 jpegs to help anyone determine my next right move:
1. Can I buy a new plastic insert to install on the original valve cover?
2. Or do I now buy a new valve cover to replace the original?
3. Or perhaps you can tell me what the right question is at this point?
Thanks.
