violent shake

I have a 2001 cavalier. It has 167,000 miles on it. I keep having this reoccuring problem....sometimes when I turn to the right, the car will begin to shake violently. It is unable to move. Once I stop for a second, then give it gas slowly, its fine. Ive been to two mechanics and they cant figure it out. It never happens when they test drive it [
]! Any ideas what it could be. Fuel filter maybe? Im not sure.
Its not in good shape, the person who had it before didnt take good car of it....the shaking problem, ac doesn't work, check engine light on, ABS light on, trac off light on, shocks need changed. I want to keep the car, but it would cost more to fix it than its worth. But I don't really have 5000 for another reliable used car.
