1967 chevelle fuel line
SoI just got a 67 chevelle v8 in ok shape but needs some work no gas is getting to the carb bad fuel pump .I looked and its got an electric fuel pump right after the fuel tank but the thing that gotme is that there is a rubber fuel line all the way from the tank to the carbI asked someone i knew they told me "you have to havea metalfuel line" but could not tell me whyso Iasked another friend they told me"youhave alittle external fuel pump thats pushing under 20 psiyour fine, just replace the pump andenjoy your car." .....who is right can I leave the rubber is it safe? How about steel braided line?or shouldI take the time and bend new fuel line? thanks

If you just want to get it running, 5/16 rubber fuel-safe tubing will be fine. You can have it cut at a local auto parts store.
If you wanna go original with it, you need the metal fuel line.

The idea about not having a rubber fuel line, is because the mechanical fuel pump works by drawing a vacuum on the line from the tank thus drawing in fuel. If the hose wasn't strong enough, or was run in too tight of a corner causing a slight kink, the pump would collapse the hose causing the car to stall
