I'm looking for advice for rear tire fitment. I added more horse power to the car and need wider tires for the rear end, but I do not want to tub the body. It's an original big block car (402) now a 454 with about 470 hp ,4 speed,373 posi rear end(12 bolt). Finally getting close to end of a long frame off restoration, rims and tires will be one of the last thing to do to the car. I have all 5 original rims but want to eventally go with a big disc brake set up, I was told I have to at least have 17' rims for that. Looking for after market rims and tires that will fit under the rear end without body modifications. Backspacing is important.

I can't help you with the wheel tire application. However, if you are thinking about adding disc brakes to the rear? Make sure whatever you buy will allow the emergency brake to work! Especially because it's a 4 speed. You definitely need that emergency brake. Some rear disc conversions don't have a feature for a working emergency brake.

As far as your search for backspacing? Research a reputable wheel supplier and run what you have by them. I'm sure they can help you with the correct backspacing needed.

Good Luck!
