We are getting a free EFI 305 (from a 90 camaro) from my Uncle to go in my chevelle and I wanted to know what we could do to it to get good power out of it. The only thing is it has to be a daily driver car so it needs to get "better" gas mileage. I would like to get more then 300 hp. I know someone is gonna say "get a 350". I want one but need a engine that will get "better" gas mileage. My dad would go crazy with a 350 I couldn't even drive it to school during the week. Oh, we are already gonna bore the motor because it needs rebuilt. So what should we bore it to.

 

Honestly best bet would be to get a used LS engine. It has modern fuel injection, and excellent gas mileage. The 305 is very underpowered, and although there are alot of ways to bring your HP up to the 300 mark, you could easily spend the amount of money and then some over what a used LS series engine would cost, without the luxury of the fuel mileage you are looking for

 

Unless we find a cheap 350 we have to use the 305 so we don't have a choice.
