84 Elko , 229 V6, trying to install fuel pump and I can’t get it installed to save my life. It seems that the fuel lines face up towards the top of the engine cavity and the push rod has a hole is rather thick, but there is a hole in there so I put it in there and I cannot get it to go back any further even with rotating the motor multiple times around i’m pulling my hair out trying to figure this out and if any of you know anything that can help me it would be greatly appreciated. The only reason I’m doing this is because they tried to. This is my dad‘s El Camino and the people who were holding it before I got it tried to put fuel injection in here and they failed miserably, but when they did that, they threw the carburetor away they threw the fuel pump away. They threw they messed up the intake manifold, so I included pictures of the new intake and carburetor manifold that I got from Edelbrock and a picture of the new fuel pump and the mounting hole if anybody can help pictures or otherwise or anything for that matter help me
