Default Slow take off Saginaw 4 speed

Hey Guys, I recently purchased a 66 Chevelle. It has a mild built 350 and a Saginaw 4 speed. The issue I'm having is when I take off in 1st gear it feels like I'm taking off in 2nd or 3rd. I also have to rev a lot in reverse. Any help would be great.

Linkage issue is what I suspect. You can take the shift fork plate off fairly easy (if i remember). If you don't know its past, I'd suggest start from square one with the linkage, it could be shifting part way, or something screwy.
