Question Window Wiper Nightmare!

Hi all,

1987 El Camino. The window wipers, recently, when turned on, will go up maybe a few inches and then come back down and repeat. As if it thinks it is going through the whole motion but it is not. The window wiper motor is going through the rotation but makes some kind of snap, and then doesn't really seem to finish. We replaced the motor but the same issue is still happening! Is this a circuit board issue? Thanks.

I don't believe it's the circuit board. If it were, the wiper arm would want to continue on the complete arc, if only a portion at a time. When you replaced the wiper motor, did you find any loose parts before pulling it apart to suggest something is simply worn out?

unhook the motor and run the wiper assembly by hand to see if it freely makes a full pass. May help you diagnose where the "snap" is coming from. May be a linkage, not a motor problem
