I have recently came into possession of a ‘76 Chevy Custom Deluxe for my teenage son. We have only had it for 3 weeks and it has been in the shop 3 times. Right now the back brakes are not working and the engine cuts off while he’s driving. It will start right back up though. Any thoughts on what could be causing these two issues? He really loves the truck.

 

More information needed. It could be vapor lock, does it have a carb?

 

Yes, it has a carburetor

 

Make sure non of the fuel lines are routed around the exhaust manifold, heat can cause fuel to vapor lock.

 

Could be a bad coil overheating.
