Default Question about C/k s10 truck

Hello. I'm new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone would have some advice on a 1984 Chevy c/k series s10 model. I am looking to purchase a truck this spring and this truck came across my search. The place is asking $11,000 for it. Is it a good model truck? Does it have a generally good engine. Or is this something to stay away from. I know that it is older and what I'm getting into in the maintenance part of things. I'm just wondering if this is a reliable truck in general or if it had/has alot of issues.
Thanks for any information.

$11k is bonkers for a 40yo truck.

Which engine? It came with several.

Unless the owner has been maintaining it over all these years , everything will need replacing. It will be a moneypit project and tricky to get parts for.

It's to expensive for a hobby project, and it's too unreliable to be a daily driver. Especially if you're not mechanically inclined.

OK so this is a full size truck then, not an S-10
The S-10 was a compact pickup.

Well all the small block chevy engines were workhorses back in their time, but again ... one that's 40 years old is pretty iffy.

Nothing is "forever". At that age it becomes a matter of money and time.
The miles are suspect. 4WD means more maintenance and hard to find parts.
You haven't said what you want it for. This is a hobby truck.

Hmmm. It's a work truck for yard work and farm work. But I do agree that it would be an issue for parts. Especially since I'm the one doing the work. That's why I was searching for opinions.
thankyou for the input.
