Default Towtruck wants to live again

Hello all new to this site. Looking for some advice. I have a 1978 chevy dually towtruck with no motor. I have a 1999 chevy tahoe how hard would it be to put the tahoe motor in the towtruck with a 4 speed can I just get a 4 barrel intake for the tahoe motor and a bellhouseing for the transmission

Assuming that you have a 1978 350/5.7, it's is a low-compression "smog" motor. Id' forget about trying to adapt a modern fuel injection unit to such an old pickup, likely with an engine mounted fuel pump. You didn't state if you have an automatic or a stick-shift, but I'd leave that alone. Trying to change automatic to stick or visa-versa will be expensive and a modern automatic won't work without a modern ECM/TCM. Best to install a 1978 distributor and a good carburetor, then try to install the entire ECM system on an old pickup truck. The best thing you really could do is pull the old motor out and install high-compression pistons and heads, IMO.

Probably a "granny gear" 4-speed Borg-Warner transmission. Do you have any part numbers on the side of the transmission?
