Default 08 cobalt lt steering column rattle

I own a 2008 cobalt sedan with 71000 miles on it. When I go
Out my gravel driveway and over small bumps I here a rattle coming from the steering column. When I grab the steering wheel and move it left and right real fast I get the same rattle. Any ideas on what it might be? I'm not sure if it's the Intermediate shaft or could it be in the gear box? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know the steering coloums are not the best in these cars..I had mine changed under warrenty and I found it funny that the small town dealership I dealt with for that matter had them in stock. So I looked it up on the interwebs and theres whole write-ups on them.guys changing 2-3 of them on their cars.I do know with all the problems ive had with my cobalt.and I mean these were stupid problems that all could have been prevented if there was a bit of quality put in these cars.this will probably be my last chev vehicle.

I replaced mine with a used one and it was rattle free for a while. After 5000 miles it's starting to get noisy. I thought the cobalt was a pretty good car but I'm beginning to wonder!!! This car is a $. 18,000.00 rattle trap and gm should be ashamed of building this car. Man up gm and fix your mistakes !!!!!!
