I recently purchased a used 2005 Cobalt LS coupe, with the Pioneer 7 speaker system, and the GM OEM stereo is the US8 option, with MP3 and CD. Everywhere I read, I see that XM is an option on these radios, but the dealer and GM support have no idea how I can get XM in the care... Someone told me that the dealer would have to "program" the radio to accept XM...

Does anyone know how I can get/program a US8 GM OEM stereo for my car, that supports XM?

 

You would need an xm reciever kit. Have you tried the parts dept. at your local dealer? None of GM's radio's have the xm reciever built into the head unit.
