2007 Cobalt not starting
My girlfriend's 2007 Cobalt wouldn't start this morning. There was no sign of trouble when I drove it last night. When the key is inserted into the ignition and turned to accessory, the radio's clock takes a bit longer to turn on than normal, and when turned to run the gauges twitch and struggle to stay at their 0 marks. When turned to start I can hear what I believe to be the starter solenoid try to engage, but it seems labored and slow. The engine does not turn over, furthermore after attempting to start it the radio and gauges are even more dead. This all leads me to believe that it's a battery problem.
I've checked the leads on the battery in the trunk and they look OK, I want to check the battery voltage and some fuses but unfortunately my multimeter is in my car which is being borrowed by my girlfriend for work along with my jumper cables which I will use to try and jump the Cobalt.
My questions are:
Do you guys agree that it's probably a battery failure?
What else could it be?
If jumping worked/failed what would that imply?
I know I should be testing out some of these questions before asking them but my tools are elsewhere and we need her car for an upcoming road trip in a few days and I want to get as much preinformation as possible so we can use our limited time off together to fix this in good time.
