The check engine light came on a few weeks ago. I checked the code; Secondary air valve stuck open. Easy enough, my friend and I replaced it(with the gasket) and the light came on after a cold start. Took it to the mechanic and he said it was the relay. Again, easy enough to fix. Light came back on after a cold start. Before I start putting more money I don't have into this thing, are there ways for me to check/test hoses/pump etc.? The fact a very well known mechanic says it was the relay and yet that didn't work bothers me.

When clearing the code for the 2nd time, it still said it was stuck open.
