cobalt as a first car
im turning 16 in a few weeks, so i am looking for a first car. I like how the cobalt look, and it seems to be a good price. But would it be a reliable car, and how long will the engine last? The one im looking at is a 2005 coupe.

My girlfreind and her sister have Cobalts. Both their first car. They seem to like them. I don't, they don't have any power. They are very economical. She get 29-31mpg....but not when I'm driving
the 2.2 is already been around for a long time....same as the old cavys, VERY reliable engine, the 2.4 not so much...
Cobalt also has the best warranty of all the cars on the road now..and as far as power they outpower civics and Corollas..but they are small cars and not built for power anyhow...however if your after this sort of thing the SS/SC Cobalt or the new turbo will go like a raped ape.

I have a 2006 Cobalt i bought new and now have 56000 miles on it. I have had no problems with the engine or tranny to date. I have the 2.2 LS Sedan which has plenty of power. It Does not handle the best at high speeds...(80) and can feel a bit odd. If you are going to be a responsible young driver....driving the speed limit it would make a good first car.
