Default radio reprogram/activation

Anyone living in the west of Washington DC (Chatilly area) ever find a dealership to get a GM radio reprogrammed for your vehicle?

I purchased a GM/Delco radio from a wrecked 06 Cobaltto replace the current non MP3 radio in my 06 Cobalt and so far the places I called seem to have ZERO knowledge of the idea of unlocking radios.

Or....

Can one just swap the actual cd portion from one radio to another or does main board of the radio control if it plays mp3s or not?

Need to change the whole radio....different software\processor
Programming these radios is VERY easy

When you install the radio, itwill say calibrate on the screen. The dealer simply needs to use the Tech2 and do a radio setup. there will be 2 options for the radio.UQ3 option(premium pioneer speaker package), or UQ4(base speaker package), you'll find the info on the underside of the spare tire cover in the trunk. once those are set, turn the key off, open the door(to turn off the RAP system), and turn key back on. Calibration will no longer be seen, andthe radio will work. If the sound is too low or too loud(usually can tell by the volume of the chimes), then the dealer needs to program the radio using SPS programming using the Tech2 and TIS2WEB and select the proper speaker package as outlined above.

I have a 2005 cobalt. I have the radio from a 2007 cobalt with the one middle **** and aux input etc. I want to know are there any special tricks I need to know before I try to install the new unit. I have the antenna adaptor for the new radio already but what else do I need because I noticed that the plugs were different.

So what if I buy a wiring harness adaptor and out on the 07 radio and plug it into the car? Or is it just not possible at all?...

Default my oem radio lost programming after few days.

this is ridiculous making this excesive american type security to the chevy cobalts. my car is sitting few days with a dead battery and then the radio doesn't turn on. i call the local dealer in inverness and they say to me that need to reprogram due to be without battery and security system activate the system. every time that the radio lost programming i have to paid $45. plus tax. this sounds an error from gm, because the radio never is removed from car and the key is the same. i don't like the security that chevy use for modern cars, plus this car has a lots of factory recalls. i think that is bad constructed. one of the badest things is the fuel lines and brake lines is installed in the same route as the muffler run, maybe about few inches distance. this cars specially the ones used on the north side of the states that is in contact with snow, takes rust and eventually leak, causing the car fire or an explosion. i discuss this with the dealer advisor but they say to me that this is not covered on the factory recalls, but i advise now the general motors to take notice of this event in these cars. in my car occurs but i fix this on time. i will like that the engineer from gm that invent this security on these cheaper radios that nobody want to stole, email me for let me know the reason to do this in this way.
be advised from this event!
