2005 Colorado check engine not working

2005 Colorado check engine not working
When the key is turned on the check engine light is not working. I know I will have to pull panel but is the light a plug in or a solder connection. Is the light a dealer part? Truck will not pass inspection with it out, Thanks in advance for your help.
