Default Max Tire Size?

Howdy,

My son just picked up a beautiful 2006 4WD Colorado and he needs tires.

The stock size is LT235/75R15 but, we were wondering what's the largest tires he can get without changing rims or adding a lift kit?

I can't seem to find an answer via Google...help anyone?

Ken

I don't see why not. The stock size is 29"...and there seems to be plenty of room...

I'm z85 crew cab 2wd and mine are about 29.5 tall and due to the rim size (16) and the backspacing and offset and the multiple accidents its been in the tires do rubb on the frame and sway bar at full lock

kilogulf,

Please understand that increasing the size of Tires without the Proper Rim width, will cause several problems. Speedometer error, braking is not as efficient, power will be moderated to some extent, a more "sloppy" control will be felt and may reduce Axel load ratings by as much as 50%.
I know buying Rims was not your intent, but given the negative effecs...

just wanna say no matter when u change ur tire size even if ur changing rim size or not u have speedo error(slightly off reading) and yes power slightly decreases due to a heavier tire

and i don't know where u get sloppy control i have nice wide tires on my truck and i have amazing control and I'm sightly lifted

and braking performance just depends on the condition of your brakes and the quality of your tire not up sizing or down sizing

and loading rating would not decrease because you just have to check to make sure the tire load rating and the rim loading rating are acceptable for what you are going to do
it doesn't decrease unless u go and buy low load rated tires
