That's good to hear. If your gadget requires less than 10A (most XM receivers draw a couple amps at most), we can do without a relay and inline fuse. Then, it's just a matter of tapping switched power from one fuse socket. You'll need an add-a-circuit, fuse tap, and 10A mini fuse (I don't know of any add-a-circuit that can do more than 10A). The add-a-circuit looks like (WirthCo #30103 shown):

Cut off the blue coupler (or add another wire segment as needed) and then attach (crimp, solder, or both) the fuse tap to the end of the red wire preferably with a slip-on terminal (WirthCo #30100 kit shown):

Install the add-a-circuit in the WSW, S/ROOF, or PWR/WNDW fuse sockets according to the instruction sheet that comes with the package. Then, install the fuse tap end into the AUX PWR 2 fuse socket (AUX PWR 1 if you prefer) on the side that goes towards the auxiliary power outlet (after removing the fuse, of course). The power outlet then gets the switched (retained accessory power, actually) through the red wire. If you choose to do the AUX PWR 1 circuit, you'll have to remember to undo the modification when you take it in for service that requires hooking up a scan tool to the data link connector.

I had the same issue/concern about wanting to use my iPod in a '12 Colorado. Your dealer can install a GM adapter for $280 and you have to control the iPod manually and it does not charge. OR - I was looking at an Isimple ISGM575. They were running between $110-$199 online. I found one at NEWEGG for less than $30 including shipping! It installed in less than an hour and worked perfectly the first time. No wiring, no splicing - unplug two connectors from back of radio, plug the harness in the kit where the two connectors were unplugged then connect the factory connectors to the other side of the kit harness. Run your iPod cable where you want (dash was best for me). You are done. Full control of your iPod using the facotry radio controls and the info displays on the screen. It charges your iPod while attached and the sound quality is excellent.

Dear Bob_Nc,
Your idea may work, however our solution cost $5.95 and took 2 minute and works the same without any cutting, splicing or removing the console panel!!!

I had no idea that it was possible to make one of the power outlets "swtiched" and this would allow total control your iPod (and other auxillary audio) through the factory radio. Thank you for enlightening me.

Does the 2012 Chevy Colorado 2LT come with a Auxiliary Audio Input Jack??

Will a stereo for a 20XX Chevy Impala/Tahoe/Suburban/ETC. work in a 2012 Colorado? The Impala/Tahoe/Suburban/Etc. radio has an audio input. If the OEM plugs are the same I would rather keep it simple. My Colorado did not come with Bluetooth or XM. The other option I am considering is an Aftermarket stereo with connector kit as to not cut/splice/etc. factory wires. Thank you.
