Default 68 Vette question

I'm trying to find the answer to this question

Is a 1968 427/390 vette coupe considered an L88? The motor is an L36

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

x2 - The L36 is a 427, but had some various differences to the L88 that gave it a HP rating of 390. Google L88 corvette and then again, L36 and you should get all you need to know about either of the two.

The L88 had aluminum heads, a massive cam, solid lifters, unique intake/carb set-up, and required other options, and some options were not available with it, such as a radio, P/S. A/C, etc.
The factory rating was 430hp, but they actually were capable of producing over 550hp.

There were 20 L88 Corvettes built in '67, 80 in '68, and 116 in '69.[sm=burnout.gif]

Don't believe the L36s were ever considered the same as an L88...other than the displacement(427), not much else was the same.

Also had a massive Holley and no heater. But with a BBC, who needs a heater.
