Carb conversion, 190cc/64cc heads, 1.6rr, what cam?
I have an '85 l98 TPI corvette that I'm converting to carb. 700r4 trans. Forged flat top pistons. I bought 190cc/64cc aluminum heads, 1.6 steel roller rockers with guides and HE pushrods. I want to get a full cam kit with lifters, springs and adjustable timing gears. I'm looking at the Lumanati bare bones kit .443/.465 lift, 280/290° Dur, 112°LSA. Will I need a stall converter for this? I want to go as big as I can without needing one. I have no idea what cam to choose honestly. This is a street/strip build. What would my compression ratio be with this setup? Can I go bigger? What would you recommend? What would my compression ratio be? My carb conversion is edelbrock torque intake/650 carb. I do have a 750 too but may be too big. I have a bypass fuel pressure regulator with return if I want to keep the stock fuel pump. Brackets for the TB cable/throttle. Will the 700r4 still shift right? It has a lock up converter i believe. Should I get different rear end gears 2.73 stock gears in now. Smog and AC delete pulleys, going to get longtube headers, haven't decided which ones to get yet that would work in the c4. 2.5 or 3" exhaust? Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum. I think it if you look up your particular pistons in your manufacturer's info, they should have a table that converts that piston to CR with your particular chamber volume. At least that's what TRW had when I rebuilt my L-82 years ago. It came with flat top pistons and I believe about a 75cc chamber volume which gave it a 9.0 CR. I put in TRW forged 11 to 1 pistons and it came out on their table as 10.0 CR.
yo, with 190cc/64cc heads and a 1.6rr block, you wanna cam that wakes the beast but ain’t too wild for daily cruisin
something like a 272-276° duration cam with decent lift, maybe a mild grind from a trusted brand
too aggressive and you’ll lose low-end torque, too tame and you waste those big heads
think of it like tuning your playlist — gotta balance bangers with chill vibe
