2011 Chevy Cruze Transmission Problems
We bought a 2011 Cruze for our twin boys to learn to drive on. Just as well of got a stick shift. We just noticed that our car is doing this jerking motion more often as we drive down the road. The car did not have many miles when we bought it and by what I am reading, was probably a bad car that was traded in. Lemon that is. Shame on them for selling something that looks nice but is a piece of junk. We will be taking this car in because we have just started to see things and they will probably say nothing wrong. It also does not unlock,. I tried to unlock the door today 4 times before it would open. This has happened before and now I think this may also be a problem. Will be contacting an attorney. I am not dealing with this and do not want my children driving junk.

Since you bought it used, I am not sure what recourse you have. Although, I bought mine new and it didn't make ANY difference. GM will not admit there is a problem. Mine was erratic in stop and go driving. At times, NOTHING would happen when I stepped on the gas! I almost got hit by a bus once pulling out of a shopping center. Luckily the bus had room to go around me. My car was 2 years old with 13,300 miles on it when I got rid of it. That was 6 DAYS after a GM engineer claimed that it was "operating as designed". I dealt with GM "customer service" and GM Corporate for 6+MONTHS and this is the conclusion they came to after driving the car for only 13 miles! What a joke!
My only suggestion to you is to have your or a GM dealer run the VIN number of the car and get a printout of ALL the service work done on your car! It does not matter where the car came from. ANY work, especially warranty work, that was done at a GM dealer will show up on the dealer's computer. Good luck. Be careful driving.
Please post here again if you get a printout from the dealer. I think it might be an eye opener!
I am now driving a 2013 Buick Verano Turbo! LOVE this car. Imagine, 5 months old and about 4,800 miles and NO problems! While the car's "structure" might be based on the Cruze, there is NO comparison between the two!
Hello Gm, i have the same problems with my Cruze 12. Manual tranmission, and above of all else, its laggy as ****
even at warmed up engine, it still lags, like if it were cold start. Is this the tranmission causing ? or engine ?

I am not in the position to advise on what is causing the vehicle to perform in that way. Since you are still within your warranty, I would suggest consulting with your dealership about this issue. They will be able to tell you whether your Cruze needs a repair or if it is operating as designed. Feel free to ask one of the technicians to go on a drive with you. If there is anything else we can help with, just let us know.

A warranty means NOTHING when GM tells you that the transmission is "operating as designed"! Just like the words YOU used! GM must train you to all use the SAME terminology! My 2011 Cruze DEFINITELY had a problem, but a GM engineer used the GM terminology and that was the end of that! That was the end of that car! It was gone after 2 years and 13,300 miles and 6 days after this "engineer" declared it A-OK! Now, some other poor sucker is driving it!
It was replaced with a 2013 Buick Verano Turbo that is NOTHING like the Cruze no matter what people say!
GM refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem with the transmission on the Cruze. My girlfriend has had her Cruze since 2010 and it's been a big disappointment. She has no gone over the mileage for her warranty so I'm not sure what more can be done. We have gone to the dealership numerous times and it's the same story each time: "Your car is working as designed."
This has further proved to me why I don't purchase GM. I love my Honda and will never purchase a GM car.

Noticed a lag when starting off from a stop sign yesterday so I stopped and started again and it repeated itself. I made it home and this morning when I got up to leave for work, I started the car and it started shaking and a light with a wrench with "service stabilitrak" came on and then the car shut off on its own. I started it again and was shaking even more with the same light so I shut it off and took a different vehicle to work. Any Ideas as to what the problem may be? 35,000 miles and not very happy right now. Thanks
welcome to the forum..
did you drive through any water? could be a bad plug or coil pack...
might also check the ground and battery connections...
Sounds like you may still be under warranty...
