I had the update done-but now that the weather is getting colder,it's back to its nasty revving, lurching & failed attempts on shifting.(revs up-tries to shift but for some reason doesn't) Got a chuckle out of manual 9-27...if the vehicle seems to accelerate slowly or not shift gears when you go faster, and you continue to drive the vehicle that way,you could damage the transmission.Have the vehicle serviced right away. But when you go in ,they'll tell you that it's normal for the car! Man up,GM & fix these lemons you've sold us! What a piece of junk.

I am really sorry that so many are having problems with their Cruze. Mine is working fine for now, but I would not feel confident enough in its dependability to take it on a road trip. My issue turned out to be in the connector pins. The continuing recalls concern me and have to get it back in for the latest one that I received. Fortunately the dealership that I bought mine from are very respectful and concerned about the issues that I had. They truly went out of their way to be accommodating while my car was in for endless servicing.
The most important matter that I can stress is to keep detailed records of time in the shop, corrections made to the car, every bit of it. Make copies and ask for service records each time. Hold GM responsible for problems that you have. I feel that this car was not thoroughly tested to rigorous standards and released with too many hidden issues.

Default Cruze 1LT 2012

I bought one and returned it after one week, bought my trade back. The car had the worst transmission and the front end suspension sounded like it started to have problems. JD Power and associates rated the car 2 1/2 star due to it's unreliability and 2012 doesn't look any better.

4 months and 4000 km. Rear seat belt has to be jammed in to stay done up(once again-dealer says it's fine) Paint where bumper joins fender peeling. With cold weather-transmission has returned to old hesitant jerky ways.Gas mileage atrocious....12.8 l/100 km-not the 9 they said-probably due to increased rpms when shifting noticed since updated software installed.Edsel comes to mind-how does this pile of crap keep winning awards?Must cost GM a lot!

Yesterday I was driving at -16 with a strong wind....no heater! 4200 kms,4 1/2 months old! What a piece of crap-I do not trust this car & GM Canada is less than helpful.Fellow who sold me it knows I loved my '98 Cavalier-told me that if a 2009 or 10 Cobalt with 20,000 km or so on it came in "I wouldn't have to pay too much extra to get it." WHAT??? Sort of shows where they think this lemon is headed! BTW-as well-rear seatbelt jams, tires need air monthly(gave up the nitrogen) key binds in ignition, paint peeling, headlights out of kilter. Will never buy GM again.

Next the stabili trac light came and and said "SERVICE" Took it back in and they had it 4 days. Ordered new computer chip and said "Never heard of this happening!" Next day, started going on again, then after several miles, go off,. Doing this now for a week. Taking it back in today. This is NOT how a new car should be!
I was told the same thing when I first got my Cruze and was surprised to find out I was getting such a low MPG. I had a 09 Corolla before getting the Cruze and was getting waaay better gas mileage. Chevrolet really got me on that one, their estimates are completely wrong. If I drove my corolla the way I drive my cruze now in order to achieve better mpg I cant even imagine how much more MPG my corolla would have gotten.
If you want to get the MPG the cruze claims to have you would have to drive supper slow don't even let your cruze accelerate past 2500 rpm which is hard to do as you probably have noticed. Their numbers are false, it just sucks that I trusted those numbers. Here is a little comparison for ya, I drive exact same amount of miles to work and back.

Last year in October I have spent $128.00 on gas driving the Corolla
This year in October I have spent $250.00 on gas driving the Cruze
Last year in November I have spent $136.00 on gas driving the Corolla
This year in November I have spent $283.00 on gas driving the Cruz

With about 40 to 50 cents difference in gas prices you would not expect that much of a difference.

Wow this sounds like an eye opener. Does anyone know if the 12' models improved any. I was wanting to hold out for an upcoming diesel version but I am kinda hesitant all together at the build quality.

Sounds like the transmission is better-but no way I'd trust anything GM builds...and BTW-there's been a fire in a 2012 now, too.

Received a loaner Cruse because my Impala was disabled. ( Could not shift out of Park) I used the Cruse from Wed- Friday. I found the pick up strong and the shifting precise. Comfort was OK but not the same room as the Impala. It has a shorter wheel base making the ride a bit choppy but smooth on the Road. When the stick is placed in the multi-choise it is fun to drive although I think our mileage is better in D. I found the dash very busy but I guess one could get used to it. I found the cruise control and the AC control kind of clumsy. The instruments were placed in a position where they are some what hard to read especially the upper ones. I think GM has tried to put a lot in this car. Looks like the Lexus equivalent. Thought that is what they were aiming for!
