Default Failed Transmission at 78K Miles??

Have a 2011 Cruze with 78K miles. Showed no symptoms of problems. Driving on the PA turnpike, accelerating uphill, car lurched real hard. Dashboard indicator started flashing and check engine light came on. Limped it 2 miles to nearest chevy dealer. Error code says solenoid 3 failure and the fluid is full of metal. Dealer says it needs a new transmission at $4,100.00!! Doing some research, I find that that tranny was only used in the 2011 model. Completely new tranny for 2012. Obviously, chevy knew that there was a problem. Will never buy another Chevy. Doesn't seem like they are too interested in standing behind their product.
