Default engine identifcation

i have a question. i bought a s-10 with a v8 and i was wanting to know what kind of engine it had the engine # is F06I7GF i called a local chevy dealer and the guy was an ******* said nope cant do it and he said that the last three digits should be letters is this true? also if anybody knows what engine this is please let me know.
the trans # is 11K161840.

Please help me!!!

Ive honestly never seen that engine# b4. what year s10. does it have centerbolt valve covers, or the old school outside bolt covers?

well the s-10 is a 1988 but i think the engine is a 1960's they are on the outside. its wierd i have asked everybody and they said nope those numbers dont help and i cent see the casting #'s cause the engine sits so close to the firewall. it sucks

alot of older engine have the casting # on the bottom... I think
what is it you really want to know about the engine that you cant see for yourself?

i will be putting in anorher engine later on but i need to buy pulleys for now just so i can drive it everyonce in awhile. cause the previous owner had no clue what he was doin not one pulley lines up im suprised that the belt stayed on!

go to a junk yard and get the brackets you need. if he used the wrong brackets the drivebelt wont line up.
