Default Why does my Ignition Control module keep dying

Ok, so I have a 90 super sport with the 454 big block 7.4 Liter engine. I didn't like the response with the throttle body fuel injection so I took it off and switched over to an eddlebrock carb. With that I put on an HEI distributer and a high output coil. I have had to replace the ignition control module 4 or 5 times. Can anybody tell me why this keeps happening? I don't get any warning and then am just all the sudden broke down.

Are you using a good thermal paste on it for installation? Maybe try a different manufacturer/better quality part? Heat tends to be the biggest killer of these.
