Your owners manual specifies that p/n 88861950 should be used for transfer case fluid. There might be an aftermarket fluid available that may work, but I couldn't find one with a quick Google search. The little bit I did read seemed to indicate that it actually is a special fluid. The 75W-90 synthetic fluid seems to be OK for 2013+ models, but the 2010-2012 Equinox/Terrain uses different fluid in the transfer case.

I show that transfer case as a GETRAG 760 which has a 0.8 liter capacity of SL136 lubricant you can call your chevy parts dept but it seems to be a synthetic axel lubricant SAE 75W/90

Use full synthetic synchromesh transmission and transfer case fluid. The days of using 80-90 axle fluid are long gone in modern vehicles.

ACDelco 10-4006 Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid is what you want. Valvoline and Royal Purple have similar lubricants too.
