If I understood you correctly, your mechanic bought a steering shaft assembly for a 2007 and 2008 model, but neither is fitting your vehicle which you claim is a 2007. Is this correct?

If so, you need to make sure yours is in fact a 2007 model. If it has a 3.6L engine it must be a 2008 or 2009 because the Sport option (w/3.6L engine) wasn't available in 2005-2007 models. Sport models with the 3.6L engine use a different steering shaft assembly. For models with the 3.4L engine, the 2005-2006 models use a different steering shaft assembly than the 2007-2009 models. I've listed the part numbers for the steering shaft assemblies below.

15806706 - 3.4L (LNJ) 2005-2006
15939132 - 3.4L (LNJ) 2007-2009
15938957 - 3.6L (LY7) 2008-2009
