2007 Equinox fuel leak
Hi All,
New member and 1st post here:
2007 Equinox has had fuel order for a few days; took to local mechanic and was able to visually see a slow/drip leak from top of tank or fuel pump, though he would charge about $180 only take down tank to verify where its leaking; parts and labor would be separate charge.
Searched and found a 'Recall' card from Chevolet/dealership indicating '12190 Fuel odor or spotting on ground - inspect fuel pump module'.
Any know if the dealership would only verify/inspect leak issue or also repair and replace parts at no charge?
Suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated,
JT

You'll need give a dealership your VIN and have them check. Some vehicles were recalled, and some were not recalled but were still fully covered under a special coverage program for this specific issue. The difference is that the recalled vehicles will have said parts replaced regardless of whether or not the vehicle is exhibiting symptoms. Under the special coverage, the repairs are only covered if the vehicle is exhibiting symptoms and the specified parts were found to be bad upon further inspection. In either case, the repairs are fully covered.
We received a letter that said our Equinox was covered under the special coverage program. The letter instructed us to only take the vehicle to the dealership if we noticed symptoms (e.g. fuel odor) and to hold on to the letter in case we ever had an issue. Ironically, our Equinox started having problems a couple weeks after we received the letter. The repairs were covered and the dealership didn't give us any trouble.
