My Girlfriend's Equinox has had malfunctioning gas and temperature gauges for months and months.
The problem is, she refuses to borrow her mom's car and is scared that if she wrecks mine I'll break up with her and never speak to her again!
I bought a parts car (2008 Equinox) but I wound up putting it back together and driving it till last year. Now it's just sitting again.

My question is can I borrow the instrument cluster out of my car and put it in her car while her instrument cluster is being shipped back and forth from a repair place?
I've been searching but can't find an answer beyond having to program the mileage.
Nothing about an immobilizer or anything. I know my silverado had all that until I deactivated it using LS Droid etc.
I have a fake Tech2 and I think maybe I got TIS2000 to work but never used it because the Tech2 does everything I need for my old trucks.
Anyway my car has like 15k more miles than hers. Legally who cares? The cars are exempt in NY because of age anyway. I just want to be able to get her instruments sorted out without her having to rent a car!

If there is a mileage or vin discrepancy between the IC and PCM would that trigger anti theft?
Also I think that these cars will run with no IC installed but my girlfriend is afraid to drive around with a huge *void* where the IC is supposed to be. Even for a couple three days.
Her car has no OnStar. Mine does.

OK last question. If I go ahead and swap my IC with hers, will i brick the car and have to reset the theft deterrent and reprogram all the keys?

 

It definitely will not brick the vehicle, affect the keys/theft deterrent, or cause any other issues. At worst, the cluster won't function and the odometer will display "ERROR". The mileage is stored in the BCM. If your fake Tech 2 works, there's nothing that could happen that you wouldn't be able to fix anyways.
