Hello All,

2007 Equinox is failing smog check (California) with system not ready for ODB II. The smog report specifically says "EGR and/or VVT system OBDII Monitors Not Ready". Technician asked me if I had disconnected the battery, but I had not done that in over 8 months. He advised me to drive the car and come back that the system needed to be reset. I drove the car for several weeks and took it my mechanic. He checked and the system was still not ready. He advised to drive it some more. Two more weeks of driving including a trip from L.A. to Phoenix and the system was still not ready. My mechanic replaced the EGR valve. After the replacement I drove the car again for over a month and took it back to have it checked. System NOT READY again. Check engine light is not on and never does go on. I don't appear to have any symptoms of a problem. My mechanic says there are no codes to go with the system not ready, so I am at a loss.

Any suggestions as to what I should explore next?
I am thinking of taking it to a referee station for their solution.
