I have a 2010 chevy equinox 2.4 and about 95K miles.It has been great.7 weeks ago the cel came on and it had a p0014 code so I changed the exhaust valve sensor and all has been fine.Today it quit twice on my wife on her way to work and once on her way home.Each thin it would start right up and fun fine..Soooo now I check it a get a p0172 code.sys to rich bank one..As I said it has a 2.4, 4cyl engine it only has one bank??? I cant seen to find any info as to were to start looking to fix it.Any info would help..Thanks>Ed

 

check fuel pressures and fuel trim if you have access to a scanner

pull the oil dipstick and smell the oil for fuel dilution. the high pressure pump is driven off the camshaft like the old mechanical fuel pumps. the o-ring can leak and fuel can seep into the crankcase. this can lead to rich fuel trims which is what the dtc is for.


for giggles, If you really are keen, inspect one spark plug and see if its all black.

 

if your oil is overfull or you can tell it has gas in it talk to your dealer theres a special coverage for the balance chain and high pressure fuel pump on the 2.4s
