I have a 2011 equinox - just changed the battery. Drove the truck about ten miles and then turned it off.
Took the truck across the street, got in the truck and turned the key and the lights, radio and dash lit up but the truck won’t turn over or start. Also cannot get the key out of truck ( stuck in first position). Also the windshield wipers are on( even though the switch is off) and I can not get the vehicle out of park. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

 

Why do we have the feeling there is more here than is presented ?

First, what was the real reason the battery required replacement?
There is a good possibility there is a poor connection, possibly a ground connection that the system may be using the wipers for that ground path ?
Was the charging system checked out?
