You should get your alternator checked soon, but as far as the battery goes I'd say you're right on par. There's a good chance your Equinox was built in 2010 which would make it just about five years old. Take it from someone who has replaced hundreds of batteries: the factory installed batteries on many newer vehicles seldom last longer than five years and some don't even make it to that. The harsh reality is that there is a lot more electrical demand on the battery in vehicles now compared to even 10 years ago. Features that require power after the engine is shut off like auto headlamps with a delayed shut off or the exterior lamps that turn on whenever the doors are locked/unlocked take their toll on a battery over time. On top of that, you have the other electronics that remain active while the vehicle is parked like the security system or OnStar.

We had to replace our factory-installed battery after only four years on our 2007 Equinox. The build date is 11/2006 and the battery was replaced in December 2010. I installed the exact same battery (AC Delco 47-7YR) because at the time it was the only battery available. I anticipate doing the same thing in the near future.
