The warranty starts on the date of manufacture; not January 1 of the model year. In your other post they said the warranty expired last month. This means your Equinox was probably built in October 2011. I would contact GM/Chevrolet customer service about getting the repair covered.

I'm assuming it was the dealership that told you it wouldn't be covered. Go over their head and contact GM/Chevrolet customer service directly.

the warranty starts on the in-service date...the date the car was first sold from the dealership to consumer. The only way to know this date if you are a second owner; is to bring the dealership your vin.

I thought powertrain in 2012 was 5 years 100 000 miles...so find out your in-service start date.
