my back tire has smoke coming from it and a burning smell could it be the brakes

 

after a short test drive; check to see if the rim on the back wheel is significantly hotter than the other back wheel. if it is, the brakes are stuck on...maybe a seized caliper, pads stuck in the caliper bracket...inspection required.
