Hi everyone. I've been searching a bunch of different forums for information/help with no luck.
About 3 years ago my wife and I pulled the trigger on a brand new Equinox LS. It has been good with only minor problems until recently. Roughly 8 months to a year ago we started experiencing a weird growl/grinding rattle under acceleration. It started happening in roundabouts and while turning during acceleration. It has been into two different dealerships multiple times and they have yet to figure it out. The noise is getting worse, both louder and longer in duration. The dealerships are no help at this point. We started brining it in around 32k miles and we are up to 40k now, so I feel like it is way too early to be having these problems. Has anyone else had similar issues?

I don't know how old this post is I'm just now seeing it but I've had the same problem With my 2017 Equinox It's kind of like a growl and a rattle I wish I could make the noise and let you hear it it's almost like rolling my tongue sometimes whenever You accelerate and decelerate and it almost sounds like a locomotive of sorts whenever you're pulling up to a stoplight despite having changed the oil every 3000 miles At the original dealership And Maintaining everything I started to notice a lot of exhaust Fumes And Happen to check the oil but even though I had just had it changed a thousand miles beforehand And it was almost empty They could not find an oil leak at all but You need to keep an eye on your oil and I can guarantee you that What did they say it was pistons and shaft Is going out They gave me a freaking 11,000 quote and then taught me it would be cheaper to rebuild my engine Period so basically the transmission is getting ready to go out in this car even though it's got Less than 120 000 miles on it Most are just Highway miles Put on in the last two years Period prior to that it only had 20 000 miles on it and it's only been driven back and forth to work And like I said maintenance had been done properly on it it's not as if it had been neglected driven hard or even Forgotten an oil change Period Unfortunately the guy said that These Year and model Equinoxes are notorious for having bad Motors And I just Hate that You're probably in the same boat as me period I went ahead and got carshield because they told me that it was going to be okay for a while to drive and it would stay with me as long as I kept an eye on the oil however it was definitely going to be leaving me on the side of the road at some point. I'm paying $160 bucks a month now and if it breaks down in the first 90 days I have $1,000 deductible for the engine or transmission and then after 90 days it is only a $500 deductible. That's a lot better than the $11,000 quote they gave me to fix what I was going to need fixed
