ABS module NLA for 2010 - 2017 Equinox?
I have a 2010 Equinox. Excellent condition. Engine was replaced under warranty...well maintained. Now the ABS module has - apparently - failed according to all the diagnostics I've had done.
Thing is..the part is NLA.for mine and from what I can tell any up to and including 2017. I'm told that a new module requires programming - dealer only - but a used module can't be reprogrammed to my VIN.
So..with a lit up dash and Service Stabilitrak notice every time I start up I cannot sell the vehicle. It's worth...basically nothing..because of this.
Really?
Does anybody have a workaround for this?

Update: Dealer advises that if they install the used module they'll program it. "If it takes" I'll be okay. No sure thing. $400 either way which if it works is not bad.
How do you know if a module is "Vin Locked"?

Possibly..I'm in a small market. $400 to install and program isn't unreasonable to me. The problem I have is that no seller of a used module can assure that the one they're offering isn't "vin locked".
One eBay seller lists it as "Reconditioned" When I asked about that they said "Reconditioned means it's a part in Grade A used condition" meaning...it looks good.
