I still would like to know if plugging into the power supply plug in the rear of the vehicle with a 12 volt power supply will that save the presets?
The rear power outlet is hot all the time.

 

Yes but be careful that the positive battery cable doesn’t touch ground while changing the battery - with a power supply hooked up, it can still arc.

Costco has Interstate AGM batteries for much less than the Interstate stores.

 

True but the issue with purchasing them at Costco is that they can only be replaced under warranty at Costco.

If you purchase a battery at any other interstate distributor, it can be replaced by any distributor in your vicinity and doesn’t have to be taken back to the original place of purchase.

I only know this because we recently had a customer who bought their battery at Costco - when we called the local Interstate warehouse to ask them about replacing it (wasn’t a battery we normally stock) they told us the warranty could only be honored by Costco and if the customer had us replace it, they would have to pay full price.

As to why, I don’t know. It probably has to do with the contract between Costco and interstate.

 

The price difference is huge, I will go to costco. Returning defective batteries to Costco is not difficult, they have stores everywhere.

 

….you know saying things like this usually means you’re going to end up in one of the few places without a Costco nearby….

 

I checked battery prices and warranties today. Walmart has the best price and warranty. $179.84 and 4 years free replacement. I think I'll go with it. Has anybody had problems with the Ever Start platinum agm battery? Comments welcome.

 

I don’t have any specific advice/experience with ever start/wal mart batteries.

The primary thing to watch for is that the battery terminals remain clean and tight. Clean the battery post & cable contact areas to achieve a good metal-to-metal connection and apply terminal protectant if needed.

After the first few days of driving, recheck that the terminals are still tight.
