Hi everyone. i have a broken transmission dipstick on a 2009, Any know how to fish it out? Can I still drive it? There is no pan just in case someone is thinking it. Should I take it to a mechanic or a transmission shop?
I have to do an upper old pan gasket so if there is a chance of running into it that way. Let me know.
I had the same problem happen to me. I took a 1/4 drive extension and put a little super glue on the tip and I lowered down until I felt it resting on the broken dipstick, held it there for a minute, then pulled it out and Voila! Getting that piece out was very annoying but not as bad as trying to find a replacing dipstick or what GM calls it "Transmission fluid level indicator" smh. I just went to a junk yard and got one. But if you decide to leave it in there, it's fine. The channel that it's in has a sharp angle at the bottom so it's not going to fall into your transmission. I hope this helps and good luck bud
