Unhappy Cd / radio reset?

I HAVE a 2008 Equinox LS and suddenly the CD-in light is always on even
when there is no CD in the player, so it won't take-in a CD. But this only happens half the time, the other half of
the time it works. Nor does the chime work when i push the eject button, that
only works rarely.

Are there some buttons i can push to reset it to factory settings? Will it lock
me out if i dont have the codes?
The radio is a Fujitsu Ten Limited 25956995.
Any help will be great.

The only way you can reset the radio is by pulling the RDO fuse (I/P fuse panel, fuse 17, 15A). Pulling the fuse might work, but you may need to clean the radio to fix it. You can try generously spraying some compressed air into the CD slot, but if that doesn't work I'd remove the radio and take it apart to see what's going on.

Thanks for your help.

No, it can't lock you out because it doesn't use a code like the older radios. The anti-theft measure is built-in because the radio has the VIN programmed into it and is retained when the power is disconnected. It won't work if it's installed in another vehicle unless the thief has the expensive dealer-level equipment required to reprogram it.

So you're 100% sure that a 2008 Equinox with a Fujitsu radio won't have a loc-out code if i take out the fuse?
Because i had a chevy service dept. man tell me it would lock me out, but im not so sure if i believe him, he seemed irrational to me,
but i just don't know, i just got this car 6 months ago.
Thanks for your replies.

Yes, 100% sure. Read your owners manual It ain't the first time a dealership has been wrong, and it definitely won't be the last. The newer GM radios (since around 2003-2005 depending in the model) don't use passcodes/PINs like the older ones did. They have the VIN programmed into them instead. If the BCM sees a VIN that doesn't match (or none at all) it doesn't let the radio power up.

Resetting your radio will depend on the year of the model, as the systems are different.
Step 1: On the dashboard of your automobile, click the "Home" button.
Step 2: Click the "Systems" tab under "Settings"
Step 3: Select "Return to Vehicle factory settings."
Step 4: Verify that the stereo system's settings have been reset to default.
