Code PO171 on 2007 Nox
Hi guys and girls. New to this forum. I have a 2007 LT AWD and the check engine light came on and then it went off. The code that I got is PO171 - System too lean - bank # 1.
What should I do to fix this problem.
Thank you for your help.

The first thing you need to do is narrow down the problem. The code P0171 (Bank 1 too lean) is a pretty vague code that means that the bank of cylinders containing the #1 cylinder is running too lean. On the 3.4L engine, bank 1 would be the 3 cylinders nearest to the firewall. Running lean means that side of the engine is getting too much air or not enough gas.
There is a TSB (TSB # 03-06-04-030G) out that says clogged fuel injectors could be the cause of P0171 and a few other similar codes.
The official fix for this is taking your car to a dealership to have the fuel injector cleaning procedure performed on your vehicle. This may be covered under the 5yr/100K mile powertrain warranty, but you would need to check with your dealership to verify this. Unfortunately, the problem needs to be diagnosed before they can determine if it is covered under the 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty. So you risk being charged at least the diagnostic fee if it is not covered.
Are there any driveability issues that you notice? (i.e. extended crank time when starting, hesitation, etc.)

1999 chevy silverado Ls 5.3 engine
check engine light on code 171 I checked everything you name it .my thought was a slow intermittent fuel pump .I would reset the code and it would come back on again in about 30 miles.after some time noticed a sound near fuel tank ,pump sounded like a little strange .I put a can of Berrymans cleaner in the tank .it seemed to do the trick ,I have drove this truck now 500 miles no problem yet .No service engine light on .
