So, asian held a gun to Chevy's head to use their product? Why would I blame the company that made the transmission? GM wasn't forced to use it, they chose to use it. So, the blame lies with them.

I think most will agree that getting all of the old fluid out is important. It's the method that this is done that everyone has different opinions about. Just to clarify, there is a difference between a flush and a fluid exchange.
During a flush, fluid is pumped through the transmission by a machine. Whether this is good or bad depends on who you ask, but I myself don't support it.
In a fluid exchange the vehicle is started so the transmission pumps the old fluid out of one of the cooler lines while fresh fluid is added.

I dont either. Amazon sells a gallon of GM ATF VI for 35 bucks. I'll just change the fluid more often since I cant change the filter anymore.

Hey I know this is old thread but hoping to get someone to reply. I have an 05 equinox AWD with approximately 160k on it. Transmission line blew got a fix to that but issue is my fluid is pretty black. I checked the levels by dropping the motor mount bracket (which came out super easy surprisingly) but the level is showing at the almost hot level when the car is off. I know the normal thing to run the transmission and get up to temp and so on. I guess can I run the engine on the ramps while the motor mount is disconnected? I have it supported with Jack and some wood block at this time but don't want to start the engine and break something. I've seen everyone say to do the drain and refill and so on but idk what to do at this point. Any and all answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
