Dexcool Vs 50/50 regular antifreeze.
What problems can Using reg. green antifreeze in 2008 Equinox ?
Coolant in car was very dirty, rusty looking so I drained & flushed system and bought what Dexcool which Chevrolet recommends on Aluminum parts, motor, radiator, etc now have issues with fans not working properly & overheating a couple times.
Any help & knowledge will be appreciated.

I don't think there's sense in putting in green antifreeze. You would first need to flush out every last drop of the Dexcool in the system, and that's next to impossible. The green stuff also doesn't last as long as Dexcool which is a pain in the butt. I doubt your problems are related to what type of antifreeze you use. Test your coolant temp sensor and thermostat by dropping them in boiling water.

Get dexcool full strength then get a gallon of distilled water and mix them together to get 50/50. Much cheaper that way. There's no telling with the green stuff anymore because some of it is good for all manufacturers. some are good for specific manufacturers. You have to read the label to to know.
You could have dislodged some junk in the cooling system which has plug up the radiator and the heating coil. you can try backflushing them with water real good and then refill with 50/50 Dex-Cool water. Also make sure there's no junk clogging up the thermostat.

Regular antifreeze in this engine won't hurt anything as long as it wasn't left in there too long.
Are you sure it was regular green antifreeze and not the universal long-life antifreeze which is also green?
