Engine change from 06 to 07 now crank sensor issue
First this is in a torrent but no luck on the Pontiac site. I'm assuming these are the same.
I Replaced the 06 engine in my torrent. Everything is from the 06 torrent except the crank sensor and cam sensor. I wasn't getting spark. Tested the crank sensor and no pulse coming from the sensor. I replaced the sensor with an 06 sensor and still no pulse. Ground and 12v are good in the sensor.
My question is how can I get these to work together? Am I going to have to use a 07 pcm with 07 sensors and have it programmed to this vin or can I use the 07 sensors and have the pcm learn these sensors.
The can sensor has to be the 07 for sure as the 06 sensor doesn't fit in the hole for the 07 sensor.
Thanks in advance!

Is the engine you're installing from a 2006 or 2007? You are correct that the Equinox & Torrent are essentially twins.
Engine management got an overhaul in 2007 and many changes were made to the engine because of this. As a result, 2006 engines are not compatible with 2007-2009 models and vice versa. The 2006 crankshaft & camshaft MUST be used with the 2006 sensors. The 2007-2009 crankshaft, camshaft, and both sensors are different than 2006 and are not interchangeable.
It is impossible to use a 2007 ECM in a 2006 vehicle because it won't be able to communicate with a 2006 BCM.
I've linked a PDF here that does a good job of going over the differences between the 2005-2006 and 2007-2009 3.4L engines.

Thank you for the reply and for the link that helped a lot.
Now my question would be will the 07 sensors be comparable with the 06 computer if I have the computer flashed?
The car is an 06 The engine is an 07.
Now my question is. Can I flash the computer from the 06 to be compatible with the 07 sensors? It said in the article the 4x cam sensor was used because of the quicker processor in the end in 07. And the 58x vs 24x cps.

1) It is impossible to flash the 2006 ECM to make it compatible with the 2007 cam & crank sensors. Even if you could flash it, the processor in the 2006 ECM isn't fast enough to properly interpret the increased amount of cam & crank sensor signals.
2) One might be inclined to ask "Why not just install the 2006 cam & crank in the 2007 block?" Well, the 2006 crankshaft will fit fine, but the camshaft bore size in the block was enlarged in 2007 to accommodate the larger 4X camshaft. This prevents you from installing the smaller 2006 camshaft in the 2007 block.

Not the answer I was looking for. Lol. Sorry I'm not good with sensors not really sure what the comps are capable of in regards to swapping things.
The dealer here told me it would work and then just had to take it to them to flash. Glad I checked here!
I do appreciate the help and thank you for replying. Saved me a ton of money just not time lol.

were you able to flash the 06 computor to the 58x 07 3.4
