My mother just got a 2021 Equinox and as I was checking it out, I noticed what looks like a heads up display built into the dash above the gauge cluster (pictures included below). Reading through the owner's manual/online/etc I was not able to find any info as to what it's supposed to do. Her model has the 8" display with built-in navigation and the color gauge cluster screen, but nowhere does it say that HUD is included. Anybody know what it's for? Thanks for any info

 

I would start by reading the owners manual.

 

It is forward collision alert. If you are tailgating or approaching a stopped car ahead too fast you will get an alert flashed on windshield.
